Support Request: Wont Load

Description

Sitekiosk was running fine for long period of time, but then stopped. WIll only load the white screen with the safe. I can exit out, turn security settings on/off, but doesn't run. Tried running under local and admin accounts, but will not load. I've uninstalled and reinstalled but no change. My uninstall did not wipe old files as the reinstall restored everything the way it was. Maybe need a more thorough uninstall process to assure everything cleared from the PC? Any other things I should check? Firewall is turned off.

What is the OS and SiteKiosk version you are using? Is Windows fully updated? Is this happening on more than one device?

If you want to do a full uninstall of SiteKiosk, open the list of installed programs in the Windows control panel, select SiteKiosk and choose "Change" instead of "Uninstall". In the dialog choose "Remove" then click the Next button. On the next dialog, check the box labeled "Automatic removal of all created data" and click the Remove button. After the removal, restart Windows. Make sure to back up your SiteKiosk configuration file before proceeding since that will be removed along with SiteKiosk.

We're running version 9.9 build 7077 on Windows 11. This issue is only on one of my four SiteKiosk machines. I believe something was triggered during a weekly windows update. I had gotten on the machine and found an error "1730. You must be an administrator to remove this application." I assumed this was a system update of some sort so I logged on as Administrator and let it proceed.... it was trying to run file 171e0b6.msi Letting it run didn't remove SiteKiosk, but it was after that, I couldn't load my content anymore and in the position I'm in.

This morning I have this same error on a second machine, but I am not going to log in as administrator and push it since I've seen what it's done on the other machine.
I am going to try to try uninstalling the non-working machine the way you described to fully clear it and then attempt a reinstall.... after that, I'll want to investigate why we're seeing this error and what it's doing when we let it run.

SiteKiosk does not update itself. I am not sure what 171e0b6.msi is. Check the Windows event log to try to find more info about what is trying to uninstall. That is not a process SiteKiosk would automatically attempt. When you originally installed SiteKiosk Classic did you use the exe file or an msi file?

Also a newer release of SiteKiosk is available. You can download SiteKiosk 9.9.7305 here: https://www.sitekiosk.com/download/sitekiosk9.exe
